Why El Paso Families Have Trusted Marquez Integrative Dental for 40+ Years

In a city where you can always find another dental office, something keeps generation after generation of El Paso families coming back to Marquez Integrative Dental Care. It is not just the technology — though we invest in it. It is something harder to put into a brochure: the feeling that your dentist genuinely knows you, respects you, and is looking out for your whole-body health. That is what Dr. Alfred Marquez has built over more than 40 years of caring for El Paso families.

Dr. Alfred Marquez, DDS: Rooted in El Paso

Dr. Alfred Marquez earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1981 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (now UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry) — one of the region’s most respected dental schools. He returned to El Paso with a clear sense of purpose: to build a dental practice that treated patients like people, not procedures.

In the more than four decades since, El Paso has changed enormously. Through all of it, Dr. Marquez has stayed — learning, adapting, and continuing to serve the same community that trusted him from the beginning. Patients who came to him as children have returned as adults and brought their own children. That continuity is one of the things we are most proud of.

The Integrative Philosophy: Why Whole-Body Dentistry?

For Dr. Marquez, adopting an integrative approach to dentistry was a clinical and personal conviction — one shaped by years of observing that what happens in a patient’s mouth is connected to what happens in the rest of their body. Long before “whole-body dentistry” became a recognizable term, Dr. Marquez was asking patients about their heart health, their sleep, their stress, and their overall wellbeing. He was recommending composite, metal-free fillings. He was looking at the jaw and the airway, not just the teeth.

That approach is reflected in everything we offer today: mercury-free biocompatible restorations, CEREC same-day crowns, sleep dentistry, TMJ evaluation, Perio Protect, sedation dentistry, and flexible payment options — because financial barriers should not stand between anyone and their health.

What Four Decades in El Paso Teaches You

After 40 years, you learn things that cannot be taught in dental school. You learn that trust is earned in small moments — in how you explain a diagnosis, in whether you remember a patient’s name, in how your staff treats someone who walks in nervous. El Paso is a border community with deep cultural roots, a strong sense of family, and a workforce that sometimes puts its own health last. Dr. Marquez has always understood that — and our practice has always worked to meet patients where they are.
